This 10th Anniversary edition of "Aide Memoire" features all ten songs from the original release plus 7 band demos.

Back in 2011, before setting off to record the album in Omaha, the Veeries and I made detailed demo recordings of all ten songs. Each musician wrote and recorded their own parts at home. I compiled all the parts and circulated the fleshed-out arrangements to the group. Those finished demos were the map that guided us to Nebraska and back.

For the first time, I'm releasing some of those demos publicly. Except not in their original form. That would be boring, trust me. The arrangements on the demos were so damn close to what we ended up recording officially that if you heard them unchanged they’d seem to you like bad-sounding cover versions of the real songs. Instead, I’ve taken this opportunity to reveal the songs in a new way. The tracks are all the same as they were except I stripped away some of the instrumentation. I featured specific players and instruments at certain moments to highlight parts that may have gotten lost in the lush madness of the final mixes.

Note: These new tracks are not the same “demo” recordings I sent to Kickstarter backers as a prize back in 2011. Those were poor-quality spur-of-the-moment performances I captured on my phone. These new tracks were properly recorded and fully realized mock-ups. To differentiate between the two versions, I’ve labeled these Veeries Demos.
